Freq #0010: You just showed up.
Claim ignorance. Stay curious.
Follow the signs.
Something happened.
Truthfully, lots of things have happened. Some known, many others not.
But no matter — we are led to exactly where we are. Right here. Right now.
Recently I met a stranger at a local coffee shop. He must have noticed the pep in my step, because he said, "You sure seem like you're in a great mood." I was. I think, therefore I am. Isn't that how it goes?
Either way, as I do, I (over)shared with my new coffee companion a perspective I hold near and dear to my heart. Which is:
You are right where you're supposed to be.
When you're driving along and approach a traffic light turning red… do you think to yourself:
A. This red light is keeping me from something.
B. This red light is saving me from something.
You've probably heard the brain makes 35,000 decisions a day. That number's shakier than it sounds — but even at a fraction of that, most of it happens without you ever noticing.
Consider what's going on as your mind takes in its surroundings. Interprets. Makes sense of what it's aware of. Runs constant logic. Compares ideas to memories. Routes impulses to activate movement — to help keep you alive (and accomplish lots of other seemingly important stuff through the day.)
We think. We move. We think. We move.
But under the hood, we've built systems of thinking, parsing, filtering machines — and even bolted on a few parts from the junkyard we're not sure what they're for. Let's face it. It's a mess. It's unfamiliar territory. And mind maintenance isn't something you've ever been trained on.
Until now.
My whole life — all 45 years of it — has been leading me to this moment. I am unequivocally convinced that my purpose is to help others pop the hood: to provide tools that bring clarity in times of uncertainty, levity and wonder in times that feel heavy and grim, and above all, inspiration to see that creativity isn't just about art — it's about how you see the world.
A childhood of mischief. Years in the U.S. Army as a trained intelligence analyst after 9/11. Translating between technical teams and executives at global health organizations through COVID-19. Each experience sharpened my thinking, honed my creative communication, and taught me how to adapt through radical transformation and hardship. Every one of them armed me with tools along the way. Don't give up. Get the tools. That's how it works.
So now it's about sharing. About giving in a way that is aligned with my true self.
A calling as they say. And I’ve answered.
Listen, I know this isn't going to be for everyone. And I'm 100% okay with that. But I already know I've helped some people. And that alone makes it worth it for me to keep going.

Thank you for tuning in to the initial beehiiv blast! Hope to see you again.
Whatever you are doing out there — I hope it's burning like a flame inside of you.
Keep believing in your superpowers. They are real.
